The Knit Design Award prize is a spiral cone, handmade of silver, and is handed over to the winning school each year. Within the cone are the written names of the schools that won the past Knit Design Award. This tradition started with the 2019 winners will continue in the upcoming years.
Furthermore, the two students of the winning school are awarded with a scholaraship and have the chance to start a working experience within Loro Piana.
The Knit Design Award competition
offers a vast range of
knitting yarns by Loro Piana
The finest raw materials are the starting point for Loro Piana’s extensive range of yarns: worsted, woolen and fancy yarns in a wide variety of styles.
All the design and colour research is carried out in Italy, as are all the production processes from dyeing to spinning, closely monitored and subjected to precise quality controls.
As well as the existing colorways available, Loro Piana is constantly developing new dye recipes which are trialed directly in the dye laboratory in Quarona. The initial formulation is tested on a swatch before the dye is rolled out on a medium or large scale. Our colour research also extends to the creation of exclusive, customised shades to respond to specific requests from our clients.
Thanks to a highly qualified R&D team and a refurbished knitwear laboratory, where new stitches are designed, we continue on the path of innovation and develop customised products that adapt our yarns to meet the needs of the product and the latest trends in the field.
